Saw a dent wizard at a county fair and it changed my shop routine

Went to the Tulsa county fair last weekend and there was this guy popping dents on a classic Mustang hood with a heat gun and a plunger, no booth or anything. He fixed a crease the size of a football in like 8 minutes while a crowd watched. I tried that plunger trick on a customer's door this Tuesday and it actually worked for shallow dings. Anyone else ever pick up a repair method from a random street demo or is it just me?

That heat gun trick sounds way too close to magic for my comfort. Tried one on a nasty door ding last week and the plunger worked fine, but then I got cocky and used the heat gun on an oil can spot. Must have held it there too long because the paint blistered something fierce. Customer was real nice about it, but my shop now has a "courtesy dent removal" sign that's really just me hiding my shame behind a wet towel and a prayer.
