Question about the new water-based clear coat from Sherwin-Williams
I know a lot of shops in my area are switching to it, but I had a big problem last week. I sprayed a 2021 Ford F-150 hood with their Ultra 7000 line and the clear lifted in three spots after just two days. I followed the tech sheet exactly and used their recommended primer. Has anyone else run into this, or did I just get a bad batch?

Heard a guy on another forum say he had lifting with that line on some factory Ford paint. Might be a thing with their newer base coats.

Ran into a friend who works at a bodyshop and he said they've seen it mostly on the white and silver Fords from the last couple years. He mentioned it's almost like the clear doesn't bond right on certain panels.

Yeah, that "lifting with that line" comment rings a bell. I saw a post on a detailing sub where a guy was doing a light polish on his new F-150 and the paint started to wrinkle right along a body line. He was using a super mild compound too, so it wasn't like he was being aggressive. Makes you wonder if their primer or clear coat process changed.
