I finally gave in and tried that new ceramic clear coat from the NAPA rep
Honestly, I thought it was just overpriced hype, but after seeing a repair I did 6 months ago still bead water perfectly, I'm sold. Anyone have tips for buffing it out without burning through?

Tbh the real trick is checking your pad choice first. A soft foam finishing pad with almost no cut is key, and keep the polisher on the lowest speed. Even then, you're only smoothing the very top layer of the coating, not actually cutting into it.

Wait, you're buffing the ceramic coat itself? I thought you weren't supposed to buff that layer at all, just the clear coat under it. If you cut into the ceramic, you'll wreck the beading.

Yeah, I learned that the hard way on my own car, so I feel you. Rosel50 has the right idea about pad choice being everything, or you'll just polish the protection right off. My first try looked great for a week until the water stopped beading.
