Found out today that a 3M respirator cartridge expires even if you never open the package
I was cleaning out my respirator drawer this morning and saw a box of 3M 2091 P100 filters I bought back in 2019. Sealed, never touched. I checked the date on the box and they expired in 2021. Called my local safety supply guy and he said the electrostatic charge breaks down over time, so the filter stops working even in the wrapper. Now I gotta check all my spare filters before I toss them in the bag. Anyone else sitting on a pile of old filters they thought were good?

Yeah, the electrostatic charge is legit, pitch those old ones.
