Finally listened to a customer's complaint about my clear coat orange peel. He said it looked like a 'bad factory job'. Switched to a slower reducer and my finish is glass now.

Took me way too long to learn that lesson myself. My first few attempts looked like I was painting the surface of the moon. You live and you learn, even if the learning comes with a side of sanding everything back down.

What exactly were you doing wrong at first? Like, were you spraying too far from the surface, or was the paint too thick? Trying to picture the "moon" finish.
