Finally got a perfect color match on a 20-year-old Ford truck

Had this old F-150 come in last Tuesday, a 2003 model with a faded red quarter panel. The customer wanted it blended into the original paint, which was a real challenge. I mixed the base coat three separate times, checking it under the shop lights and then outside in the sun. On the third try, the match was spot on. The moment I sprayed the final clear coat and saw it dry without any color shift, I just stood back and smiled. It's those little wins that make a long day feel worth it. Anyone else get a real kick out of nailing a tough blend on an older vehicle?

Ha, that's the best feeling! I'd probably just stare at it for ten minutes, too proud to move on to the next job. What's the next project, a '90s beige Camry?

Imagine the satisfaction of finally fixing that weird rattle after months. Honestly, a beige Camry would be a nice break from the complicated stuff.

Oliviahenderson you're killing me with that Camry comment. I've actually got one waiting in the wings, a 96 beige four door that sounds like a dying blender on startup. But honestly, after chasing that rattle for three months, staring at a simple job like a oil change on that old Toyota sounds like a vacation. I might just pop the hood, lean on it, and breathe for a solid ten minutes before touching a wrench. @oliviahenderson you're spot on about the pride thing, I do the same thing with my own truck after a fix, just sit there in the driveway like I'm some kind of mechanic god.
