Took me 2 years to admit the HOA landscaping crew actually knows what they're doing

I used to roll my eyes every time those guys trimmed the bushes at my neighborhood entrance (Sugarloaf Commons, near Lawrenceville). I figured I could do a better job myself, but after trying to match their work for two seasons, I gave up. They keep everything looking clean with zero effort from me, and my house value didn't drop like my neighbor's did when he let his yard go wild. Has anyone else here been proven wrong by their HOA's services?

Ha, I feel this so hard! I used to sneer at our HOA crew like I was some kind of landscaping expert, but then I realized my yard looked like a patchy mess compared to their manicured perfection. Honestly, I can barely keep my own potted plants alive, so who was I kidding? I tried to trim the hedge out front once and it ended up looking like a bad haircut. I'm all for eating crow on this one, the HOA people definitely know their stuff better than I ever will. Did you ever try to fight them on anything else and end up looking silly?

Plenty of us keep nice yards without an army of busybodies telling us how.
