TIL my neighbor's HOA complaint actually saved me $200

I was PISSED when my neighbor two doors down filed a complaint about my slightly overgrown lawn. I thought he was just being a jerk. But we got to talking at the block party last Saturday and he showed me how letting it get too tall attracts snakes and ticks around here. He was right - I had 2 tick bites on my kid last summer. Fixed the yard, no fines, and now I actually mow every 10 days like clockwork. Has anyone else had an HOA complaint that turned out to be helpful instead of just annoying?

Totally feel you on that. It's wild how something that seems like pure annoyance can actually be a wake up call you needed.

Oh man, @hernandez.morgan that is so true! I had a flat tire once that ruined my whole day but ended up making me stop and actually talk to a neighbor I'd never met.
