TIL my HOA actually has a secret paint color swap program

I've been living in my house in Marietta for about 4 years now, and I always hated that the HOA only approved like 3 boring beige colors for the exterior. I wanted to repaint my shutters a darker green but figured it would never fly. Then at our neighborhood spring picnic last month, the HOA board president mentioned something about a color swap program they've had since 2018. Apparently if you get a sample approved first, they let you pick from a hidden list of maybe 12 extra colors that match the neighborhood vibe. I brought in a paint chip from Sherwin Williams, they said sure, and now my house has navy blue shutters instead of the standard black. Has anyone else's HOA had something like this they just don't tell people about?

Oh great, so you're telling me I've been staring at boring beige for four years when I could've been one secret handshake away from a dark green house? Typical me, probably missed the memo because I was too busy eating my body weight in potato salad at that picnic.
