The day I finally understood my yard drainage, after 7 years here

We moved into our house in Kennesaw back in 2017 and every spring the back corner turned into a swamp. I kept adding more topsoil and grass seed, thinking the ground was just low. Last month our neighbor Larry watched me digging trenches and said 'you know the outlet pipe from your gutters dumps right there, right?' Walked around the side and sure enough, that downspout had been disconnected from the underground pipe the whole time. Reattached it with a simple coupler, cost me $11 at Home Depot, and the puddle dried up in two days. Anyone else discover a fix that was way simpler than all the work you did first?
