Rant: it took me 11 days and 3 trips to the county office to get our fence permit sorted out
I just want to vent about the dumbest 11 days of my life. We put up a 6 foot privacy fence along the back of our lot in Smyrna, and I figured the permit would be a quick afternoon thing. Turns out our property line is 4 inches off from what the old survey showed, so the county flagged it and made us get a new plat before they would even look at the fence plan. I went down to the office on Roswell Street three separate times, once just to ask what form I was missing, and each time they handed me a different checklist. The second trip I waited 90 minutes only to find out I needed a notarized letter from the HOA, which took another two days to get. Finally got the green light Friday and the fence posts are going in this weekend. Has anyone else had a permit office pull the old survey switcheroo on them? And is there a trick to getting the right checklist the first time around?
