Picked rock mulch over pine straw for my front beds and now I'm second guessing
I redid my landscaping back in March and had to choose between rock mulch and pine straw. Went with the river rock because I got tired of replacing pine straw every 6 months. Looks nice at first but now I'm finding leaves stuck between the rocks that are a pain to blow out. Plus my HOA sent a note saying rocks aren't "traditional" for our neighborhood. Anyone else deal with switching up mulch and regret it later?

That point about leaves getting stuck between the rocks is exactly what happened to my next door neighbor. She put down pea gravel two years ago and now she spends more time picking out dead leaves with a pair of kitchen tongs than she ever did spreading new pine straw. Did your HOA actually threaten any real consequences or was it more of a "suggestion" type note? Because I feel like HOAs can be super picky about some stuff but then totally ignore other things, so I'm curious how serious they were about it.

I'm sorry, kitchen tongs? That's commitment.
