Neighbor in Marietta mentioned her HOA raised dues $40 a month for a new fence, and half the block never got a vote
I checked our own bylaws after that and found out fence projects over $5,000 need a majority vote at a meeting, which apparently never happened. Has anyone else in Cobb County dealt with an HOA spending money without asking first?
Used to figure the board knew best and it was not worth the hassle to question them. Then our HOA in east Cobb dropped about $8,000 on new pool furniture and a keypad gate, all from reserve funds, with zero notice until the bill showed up in the newsletter. Turns out our rules say anything past $5,000 needs a vote, same as yours. A few of us asked for the minutes from that quarter and there was no meeting, no motion, nothing. Now I read the bylaws twice a year and show up to every meeting, because once they spend it, good luck getting it back.
