My HOA president left a note on my door about my trash cans, and what he wrote still bugs me
Last Saturday I put my bins out around 10pm like I always do, and Sunday morning there was a handwritten note taped to the lid. It was from the HOA prez, and it basically said cans have to be at the curb by 6am Monday, not sitting out all weekend, because "prospective buyers toured the neighborhood Sunday." Thing is, my next door neighbor has had a broken fence for 6 months and nobody says a word. I get rules are rules but why single out my two green bins when there is way worse stuff on the same street? Has anyone else dealt with an HOA that picks and chooses what to enforce?
Man that selective enforcement thing is the worst part of HOAs, because once they start cherry picking it basically turns into whoever the board likes gets a pass and everyone else gets notes on their door. Your neighbor's broken fence has been sitting there for 6 months, which means they are clearly not applying rules evenly, they are applying them to whoever they feel like bugging that week. Next time you get a note, take a pic of that fence and ask them to explain the difference in writing, because these people fold fast when you make them put their logic on paper.
