Just realized we spent $1,200 on lawn care last year without even noticing
I was going through credit card statements for tax stuff and added up all the lawn mowing and landscaping payments from 2023. Came to $1,200. That's $100 a month for someone to cut grass and blow leaves. We have a small yard too, like a quarter acre in Smyrna. Now I'm wondering if I should just buy a mower and do it myself. Anybody else get surprised by a number like this when they actually looked at what they were spending?

Totally get the shock, I had a similar moment when I added up what we were paying for basic yard work. $1,200 for a quarter acre does seem like a lot, especially if you're handy with tools. I'd say look into a decent push mower and maybe a trimmer, you could probably do it yourself for way less than half that cost. Plus you get some exercise and the satisfaction of owning the work. Just make sure you actually want to spend the time doing it every week, some people hate yard work and that $100 is worth the freedom.

Counterpoint, some people make enough money that $100 a week is way cheaper than their free time.
