Hot take: the sump pump float switch almost cost me my finished basement in Alpharetta
Woke up Sunday to the sound of water running in the basement and found about 2 inches sitting on the new LVP in the corner. The float on my 7-year-old pump had jammed on a pebble and the thing never kicked on during that all-night rain. I dumped a bucket of water in the pit to test it and the float stuck again, so I swapped in a new $30 switch from the hardware store off Highway 9 that same afternoon. Family room carpet survived by maybe an hour. If anyone has a backup pump they actually trust when the power flickers, I'm all ears.
