HOA board member quoted a rule wrong and now I'm double checking everything

At our Smyrna neighborhood meeting last Tuesday, the board president said sheds over 8 feet need a variance, but the actual covenant on page 14 says 10 feet, so I went back and read all 42 pages with a highlighter and found 3 more mistakes, has anyone else caught their HOA quoting outdated rules?

The real issue here might not be the quotes themselves, but when those rules were actually voted in... our board did a huge "cleanup" of the covenants back in 2019 and buried some changes no one noticed until people started digging. If your documents have any amendment dates in the margins, that's where the trouble usually hides... maybe get a few neighbors to cross-check the recorded version at the county clerk's office, because the copy in your packet might not match what's legally filed. That's a whole different kind of mess than a misquote...
