Chat with a roofer last week changed how I look at my own house

I was getting a bid for a minor repair and the guy pointed out how my gutters were installed wrong by the previous owner. He said 'half the houses in this neighborhood have the same issue, nobody ever checks till it rains sideways.' Honestly, it hit different because I've lived here 4 years and never once thought to look at how they were pitched. Made me wonder how many other little things I'm just not seeing around the property. Anybody else have a contractor point out something obvious you'd totally missed?

One thing that really got me was when an electrician pointed out that all my outdoor outlets were installed upside down. Apparently the little half circle ground hole should be on top, not bottom, so if something falls on a partially plugged in cord it hits the ground first not the hot blade. Been that way for 8 years and never crossed my mind once. Now I notice every single outlet I walk past, drives me nuts.

Yeah that's one of those things you can't unsee once you know it.
