Been pressure washing my driveway wrong for 5 years - neighbor finally stopped me

Was blasting away with a zero-degree tip 2 inches from the concrete until my neighbor Dave came over and showed me I was gouging pits into the surface that'll just collect weeds, and now I gotta reseal the whole thing next spring - anyone else find out they were doing some basic home maintenance totally backwards?

Dave's got a point about the weed holes, but pressure washing isn't that complicated.

Pressure washing wood is a whole different game though.

Oh man, I feel this in my soul. I spent two solid summers pressure washing my patio with the nozzle basically touching the concrete, thinking I was getting it super clean. My wife finally came out and asked why the whole thing looked like a golf ball. Turns out I was basically sandblasting divots into it, lol. Now I gotta do a whole resurfacing job this spring that's gonna cost way more than if I'd just watched a 5 minute YouTube video. The worst part is I was so proud of myself for being "thorough" when really I was just a menace with a power washer.
