Thought stacking moon shots by hand was pointless, then a guy in Tucson showed me his 40 frame shot
I figured stacking was only for deep sky stuff since the moon is so bright and sharp on its own. Last week I watched a guy named Ray in Tucson process 40 frames of the same crater in a free program and the noise just fell off the image. He shot at ISO 200 instead of 800, stacked the lot, and the sharpening pulled out detail I could not get in a single exposure. My own single shots from my driveway now look like sandpaper next to his. Do you stack lunar shots or just take one frame and call it done?
