Showerthought: my uncle told me to stop stacking my frames and shoot 200 lights instead, and he was right
He said this back in March when I was getting weird walking noise in my Andromeda shots, and after I tried 200 x 30 second subs instead of my usual 60, the difference was night and day, so now I'm wondering what other "just shoot more" advice I ignored.
The advice your uncle gave is solid but the walking noise fix might have less to do with sub count and more to do with total integration time. Going from 60 to 200 subs triples your total exposure, so of course the noise drops, that part is just math. The real lesson is that stacking fewer longer subs can get you to the same place, it just depends on whether your mount tracks well enough to pull it off.
