My marathon wait for the Orion shot ended with a foggy lens

I picked a perfect spot months ago to capture the Orion Nebula. Last night was finally clear, so I drove out and set up before sunset. After hours of cooling the camera sensor and aligning, I was ready. Just as I hit the shutter, a sudden dew fogged up the whole lens. Now I have a bunch of soft, glowing blurs that look more like ghosts than stars.

Those soft blurs sound kinda cool though. Sometimes the messed up shots turn out more interesting than the perfect one you planned. Worth another try next clear night.

Grab a dew heater strap next time to stop that fog from ruining your shot.

A cheap hair dryer from the car saved one of my shots last winter. It cleared the lens enough to get a few good frames before the fog came back. It's a decent band-aid fix if you're caught without a heater.
