She pointed at the corner stars after I stretched the histogram too hard in Siril, and now I'm wondering if anyone here backs off their curves to keep the stars round even if the nebula gets noisier.
Aw man, the aunt critique is brutal because they never miss the one thing you hoped nobody would zoom in on. Been there with my own corner stars turning into little eggs after I pushed the stretch to pull out dust lanes. What helped me was doing the star reduction and stretch in small steps instead of one big move, then checking the corners at 100 percent before saving. Yeah the nebula ends up a touch noisier, but round stars matter more than a slightly cleaner background. Sometimes I just mask the stars entirely and stretch the sky without touching them.
