I switched from my DSLR to a cheap webcam for moon shots and now I feel silly about all that gear
Last month I was packing my Canon and a 300mm lens for the full moon, then a friend showed me his $30 webcam stuck in a 4 inch scope. I tried the same setup from my balcony in Denver and the crater detail was honestly sharper than my old shots. What sold me was stacking 200 frames in free software and seeing the Alpine Valley show up clear for the first time. I still love the DSLR for wide star trails, but for the moon I am not going back to the heavy bag. Has anyone else made the jump to a cheap sensor and felt weird about it?
