Bought a $27 red headlamp for night sky shots and my neighbor thought I was a burglar
Finally got tired of holding a flashlight in my teeth while setting up my tripod in the backyard in Tucson, so I grabbed a red LED headlamp for 27 bucks at the hardware store. Turns out red light keeps your eyes adjusted for stargazing, and my Orion shots actually came out sharper because I could see the focus ring without blinding myself. Problem is my neighbor saw the red glow bobbing around at 11pm and called it in, so now I wave at every cop that rolls past. Anyone else got a weird look from the cops while shooting the sky from their own yard?
