Almost lost 6 months of star tracking data off a bad SD card in Moab last week
I was out in Moab last Wednesday shooting the Milky Way, got about 3 hours of tracking data. Got home to find my SD card reader kept erroring out. Turns out the card was fake, a 128gb knockoff that only holds 32gb before corrupting. I had photos from the last 6 months on that card, including some comet shots from June. Lucky I had a backup copy of most stuff, but I lost all of last month's Andromeda stack. Anyone else run into fake memory cards from those online flash sales?

Oh dude no way, that is brutal lol. I bought a "256gb" card off a sketchy Amazon flash sale once and it crapped out on me after a week with only like 20gb of my cat photos on it. I feel your pain, I really do. At least you had some backup though, I wasn't so lucky and lost a whole folder of my dumb moon shots from last winter. That fake card is still sitting in my drawer as a physical reminder of my own bad life choices lmao.
