A breeze almost blurred my galaxy photo. My quick fix made it better.
I was out last night trying to get a shot of the Milky Way. The wind picked up and my camera started to shake on the tripod. I remembered some advice and used a rock to weigh down the legs. The photo came out with less blur than I expected. Now I always check for wind and keep a weight handy.

Smart move with the rock, wind always ruins my galaxy shots too.

Sandbags are too much hassle for hikes. I just stuff my backpack with more gear and hang it from the tripod hook. Does the trick most nights, but some gusts just won't quit.

Ever try the water bladder trick? My buddy was out near Sedona and his tripod was dancing in the wind. He didn't have a rock or extra gear, so he just emptied his water bladder and hung the full thing from the center hook. Said it worked like a charm because the water sloshing around seemed to dampen the tiny shakes too. He almost gave up on the shot but that saved the night.
