Update: my spaghetti dinner turned into a ceiling art project
I was making spaghetti last Tuesday in my tiny kitchen in Portland and somehow the lid slipped off the pot. Sauce sprayed everywhere, including a solid streak across my white ceiling. I just grabbed a wet rag and dabbed at it for 10 minutes, which only made it worse. My whole kitchen looks like a crime scene now, but the spaghetti itself came out great. Has anyone else had a cooking mishap that turned into a decorating statement?

That ceiling streak adds so much character though. My buddy in Denver had a chili pot explode and now his kitchen wall looks like a modern art piece from a gallery downtown. I tried scrubbing my stove after a boiling pasta incident and just ended up with a weird orange smear that matches nothing. Your spaghetti ceiling is basically telling everyone you cook real food with real risks. What color was the sauce, red or a darker marinara?

Real food with real risks" - love that line. My kitchen ceiling has a permanent stain from when I tried making homemade salsa. The lid wasn't on tight enough. Blended tomatoes everywhere. My roommate at the time called it "aggressive cooking decor." Now when people come over I tell them it's a Jackson Pollock tribute.
Anyway matthew864 your buddy's chili explosion sounds wild. Was it a dark red or did it have beans in it? Because bean juice stains are way worse than plain tomato sauce. I learned that the hard way with a burrito incident.
