Stopped using fabric softener 3 months ago, huge difference in towel absorbency
Woke up one morning. Towels felt waxy. Looked it up online. Turns out fabric softener coats the fibers. Blocks water absorption. Switched to just vinegar in the rinse cycle. Now my bath towels actually dry me off. Anyone else ditch softener?

Vinegar rinse is the way to go, works better than any softener ever did.

Did you ever try it with a couple drops of essential oil mixed in? I put a few drops of lavender in my vinegar rinse once and my towels smelled like a fancy spa. My husband thought I was crazy when he saw me pouring vinegar in the washer but now he even asks if I used the "magic vinegar" on his work shirts. The only downside is I accidentally made one load smell like salad dressing when I used too much balsamic by mistake. That was a rough week of wearing vinaigrette scented clothes to work. But seriously it's a GAME CHANGER for getting rid of that gross musty smell towels get.

Oh yeah, I saw something about that on a cleaning blog once. They said the vinegar smell goes away once the clothes dry, which I always thought was kinda wild but it makes sense.
