Showerthought: I found a weird way to get people to actually answer my 'ask anything' posts

I noticed my posts in this community were getting buried with zero replies for days. Last Tuesday, I tried something different: I started the body with a super specific, slightly odd detail from my own life, like 'My cat knocked over a full glass of water onto my router at 3 AM.' Then I connected it to my actual question about internet troubleshooting. That one post got 12 replies in an hour. It seems giving a tiny, concrete story first makes people stop scrolling. Has anyone else tried a specific opening trick that actually works here?

Posting a picture of my messy desk with the question got way more traction for me.

Wait, you posted a picture of your actual messy desk? That's brave. Mine looks like a tornado hit a paper factory, I'd never show it to anyone. Did people actually recognize anything in the chaos?
