My uncle told me to just ask the question instead of overthinking it
I was stuck on a work project for a week, trying to figure out a coding problem on my own, and he said 'just post it in the right forum and see what happens.' I finally did that yesterday in a developer community and got a clear answer in about an hour that fixed everything. Has anyone else had a simple piece of advice that actually worked when you finally tried it?

Remember how teachers always said "there's no dumb question"? Turns out that applies to work too. I used to avoid asking my boss for help, worried I'd look bad. Then I got stuck on a client report for two days. Finally just walked over and asked for five minutes of his time. He showed me a trick in the software I never knew existed, solved it in like two minutes. Felt silly for waiting so long.

Okay but "felt silly for waiting so long" is the real thing here, @the_oscar. We've all been there, but two days is a long time to spin your wheels. Sometimes you gotta ask if the fear of looking bad is worse than actually not getting your work done. It's good it worked out, but that's a risky game with deadlines.
