My aunt told me to always ask 'what's the worst that can happen' before making a big choice

She said it last year when I was scared to open my own grooming shop. I thought the worst was losing all my savings, about $8,000. So I asked for help, got a small business loan, and opened up. Turns out, the real worst thing was almost getting a bad lease. Asking that question made me read every line and I caught a huge fee they tried to hide. Has anyone else had a simple piece of advice save them from a big mistake?

Ever heard "measure twice, cut once"? That saved me from ordering the wrong size countertops.

My grandpa always said that rule applies to more than just woodworking (it saved me from a bad haircut once).
