I spent $150 on a 'premium' online course about asking better questions
I bought it last fall thinking it would help me get better answers in my job. The first lesson was just a long video telling me to be curious. The second lesson said to avoid yes or no questions, which I already knew. After five videos that all felt like common sense, I asked for a refund but was past the 30 day window. Has anyone found a free resource that actually helped with this?

I mean idk, maybe it's just me but the "common sense" stuff is usually what we skip over. Those videos sound basic but I've had to relearn that being curious actually takes work when you're stressed at a job. Paying for it kinda forces you to take it seriously, a free pdf won't do that. The refund window thing sucks but the real problem might be expecting a magic trick instead of just practicing the simple advice.

Started listening to a podcast called "Conversations with People Who Hate Me" just to hear how the host asks questions. It's free and honestly, it's less about techniques and more about listening to someone who's really good at it. Hearing him stay calm and ask simple follow-ups in tough talks showed me more than any course. I tried copying his style in my next few team meetings, just focusing on "what happened next?" or "how did that feel?" and it actually worked. The free part was key, because I could just try stuff without feeling like I wasted money.
