I dropped $200 on a 'premium' meditation app and it did nothing for me

After 6 weeks of daily sessions, my anxiety was actually worse because I kept stressing about not using the app enough, so has anyone else found free apps that actually help without the guilt trips?

The 5 minute timer trick got me through a rough patch too. I also use a free app called Insight Timer since it has a simple bell that just rings at the start and end of your sit with no goals or streaks to worry about. Ditching the gamification helped me stop treating meditation like another chore I was failing at.

Man, I feel that. Paid myself $150 for a "life changing" breathing app once and ended up hyperventilating into a paper bag because I missed a session. The irony is real when you're paying to relax but end up stressed about not relaxing. Best free thing I found is actually just a timer on my phone - set it for 5 minutes, stare at a wall, and call it meditation. Way less pressure than some app telling me I've "unlocked the beginner lotus tier" or whatever.
