Why nobody warns you about the drive times between towns in NH

Honestly, I moved here from Massachusetts a year ago and thought I knew what to expect with commuting. But driving from Nashua to Littleton for a showing last month took me almost 3 hours because of construction and a detour on 93. Back home that distance would be maybe 90 minutes tops. Has anyone else been surprised by how long simple trips take up here?

Moved here from Connecticut a few years back and had the exact same shock... thought I was just bad at reading maps or something. My GPS said Manchester to Lebanon was an hour and a half, ended up being two and a half because of a logging truck that flipped over near New Hampton. The thing that gets me is how one little accident or a farmer moving equipment can completely wreck your whole day up here. I've started just adding an extra hour to every trip estimate and hoping for the best... still end up late half the time. Must be something in the water or the mountains just messing with time itself, I don't know.
