Tried winter hiking in the Whites with microspikes for the first time

I've lived in Concord for 15 years and always avoided Mount Monadnock in the winter, figured it was just icy misery. Last month my brother dragged me up there with a pair of $60 microspikes from EMS and it was honestly way easier than summer hiking, no slipping at all. Now I'm wondering if I've been missing out on all the other trails too, has anyone else had that same realization after finally getting the right gear?

Funny how one piece of gear flips your whole view of something, same thing happened to me with good boots for mud season, now I actually look forward to the sloppy stuff instead of dreading it.
