TIL a $300 snowblower saved me 4 hours last winter, but my neighbor's $150 one broke after 2 storms
Bought a cheap electric snowblower from Lowe's last January and it shredded its auger belt on the third use. Meanwhile my buddy's gas model from a local Ace Hardware in Manchester chugged through 3 feet of wet snow no problem. Anyone else find that spending more upfront on winter gear actually pays off around here?

You're not wrong about the gas models holding up better in snow like what we get here. That cheap electric one was never gonna survive more than a season, especially if you hit any ice chunks underneath. A good gas blower costs more upfront but parts are everywhere and you can fix almost anything on it yourself. Did you end up replacing it with something better or are you borrowing your buddy's for now?

That gas model lasted me like six winters before the carb needed work, how many seasons did you actually get out of yours before it started giving you problems?

Grabbed a used Toro single-stage off Craigslist for cheap and it's been a beast through three winters now. Way easier to start than that old carburetor nightmare you dealt with.
