The secret to keeping skunks out of your yard is... mothballs?
I was at my wit's end last spring after a skunk family decided my backyard in Concord was their new favorite hangout. Tried all the usual stuff, cayenne pepper, ammonia soaked rags, even those ultrasonic things that did nothing. Then my old neighbor, guy's lived here 40 years, told me to get a giant bag of mothballs and scatter them around the perimeter every two weeks. Honestly felt stupid doing it but I haven't seen a single skunk since May. Anyone else got a weird, non-chemical trick that worked way better than it should have?

Wait, mothballs? Isn't that stuff basically poison for everything with a nose? At this point I'm half expecting my neighbor to tell me to just stand out there with a garden hose and a bad attitude.

Ngl, I'm with you on that one. The whole mothball thing feels like something from a different era, like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. It's rough having a neighbor who's stuck on old-school methods and doesn't see the issue. Honestly, the garden hose and bad attitude comment hit too close to home, I've been there. Solidarity, man, it's a weird battle.
