Stop telling newcomers Manchester is just like Boston but cheaper
People keep saying Manchester is a budget Boston and that's just not true. I've lived here 12 years and the job market is completely different - we don't have the same industries or transit. If someone moves here thinking it's a mini Boston they're going to be disappointed. Has anyone else had to correct a friend who moved here with that idea?

The real difference nobody talks about is how Manchester's economy relies way more on small businesses and local jobs while Boston runs on big corporations and universities. Most people don't realize that a huge chunk of Manchester's workforce commutes south to Massachusetts for work, so calling it a cheaper Boston ignores that many residents already spend their money and time down there. That creates a weird split where locals and newcomers have totally different experiences depending on where they actually work. Have you noticed that gap between people who work in Manchester versus those who just sleep here?

Did you ever figure out how to handle that weird "live here but work there" dynamic yourself, @the_sean?
