Old timer at the Frye's in Littleton told me I was lugging my saw wrong after 2 winters of fighting it
He showed me the tape mark on my own handle in 5 seconds and I haven't had a kickback since, has anyone else had a random stranger save them time on a job site?

That old timer probably saved your back from years of ache.

Totally agree @tyler492. Makes me think how we ignore the small stuff that saves us big later. It's like the car guy who tells you to rotate your tires but everyone blows him off until the tread is gone. Old school wisdom gets a bad rap but it's usually earned the hard way.

Build on what @oliviahenderson just said about rotating tires because that is a PERFECT example. Same thing with changing the oil in your car. People skip it for years then wonder why their engine blows up at 100k miles. Or think about dentists who nag you to floss. Nobody wants to hear it but that one annoying habit stops your teeth from falling out later. Old school wisdom comes from people who already made those mistakes so you don't have to. It's just easier to roll your eyes than admit they were right the whole time.
