My GPS detour through Franconia Notch added 2 hours, and honestly I'm not mad about it
Last Saturday I was heading from Concord to Littleton for a job estimate. Google Maps kept rerouting me around I-93 because of some construction delay. It sent me down a back road through Franconia Notch that I never would have picked on my own. I passed that old stone bridge near the Flume and stopped at a little farm stand I didn't even know existed. Bought a quart of maple syrup from a guy who's been boiling sap there for 30 years. Sure, I showed up late and lost the client, but I got to see the leaves turning in the notch without a single other car around. Everyone talks about Route 112 or the Kanc, but that random detour beat any planned scenic drive I've done. Has anyone else had a GPS mistake turn into a better trip than the original route? I'm curious if I just got lucky or if this happens more than people admit.
