Just came back from a weekend in Portsmouth and noticed something wild about the parking situation there
I was down in Portsmouth last Saturday for a day trip, and I swear I spent almost 30 minutes just circling around looking for a spot near the downtown area. Ended up parking like a half mile away at one of the garages near the Panera, and it cost me $18 for maybe 4 hours. A local I talked to at the coffee shop said they usually take the COAST bus from the outskirts or park at the mall and walk over. Has anyone else dealt with that nightmare parking or is there some secret lot I missed?

Idk if this is just me but parking struggles like that seem to be a sign of how towns just aren't built for how many people actually want to visit them anymore. It's like every place wants tourists and day trippers but nobody wants to spend the money on making it actually work. Maybe it's the same pattern everywhere now, you just gotta accept the walk or the extra cash.

You mentioned "accept the walk or the extra cash" and honestly I used to think parking was just laziness, but you're right. I've seen it in a few towns near me where they built all these breweries and shops but didn't add a single parking spot, so everybody fights over street spaces. It finally clicked for me that they just want the money without putting in the work.
