Bought a $50 dehumidifier for my basement and it was a total scam

I live over in Dover and my basement gets that musty smell every summer. So last month I grabbed this cheap dehumidifier off Amazon for about 50 bucks. Thing ran 24/7 for two weeks and barely pulled a cup of water out of the air. Finally broke down and got a proper Frigidaire one for $200 and it fills the tank every 12 hours. Anyone else get burned by a cheap appliance like that?

Yeah but fifty bucks won't buy you much more than a fan these days.

@hugo238 I actually think fifty bucks can go a little further than that if you hunt around. A basic standing fan or a decent box fan is like $25-$30 at Walmart or Target, not $50. But if you're talking about a window unit or something with a remote and oscillation, yeah fifty is the baseline now. Still, you can snag one on clearance at the end of summer for way less, just gotta time it right.
