Unpopular opinion: soaked beans beat canned and my grocery bill proves it
Last month I read a tiny note in a thrift store cookbook that said a pound of dry beans equals about 4 cans of the stuff. I didn't believe it so I actually weighed it out at home and got closer to 4.5 cans worth. A bag of pintos costs me $1.29 at the grocery on 5th here in Columbus and 4 cans run about $5.20. That math was a face slap. I've been soaking a bag on Sunday nights and we eat beans all week now, red beans and rice, bean dip, whatever. Does anyone else do the overnight soak or have you just given up and gone back to cans for the time saved?
