Took me 45 minutes to figure out why my knife was dull, turns out I was sharpening it on the heel instead of the blade edge.

I stood there staring at the honing rod like an idiot for a solid 10 minutes before my wife walked in and asked why I was rubbing steel on the handle part, has anyone else just completely blanked on basic kitchen stuff mid-task?

Respectfully disagree with the framing here. Getting frustrated for 45 minutes before figuring it out sounds more like a normal learning moment than a total blank. We've all had those days where our brain just refuses to cooperate on simple stuff, and sharpening the wrong part is an easy mistake when you're rushing through chores.
