Switched from metal to silicone spatulas last month and my pans look like new again

I was constantly scraping my non-stick skillet with a cheap metal spatula and ended up with these awful scratch marks after about 6 months. Then I picked up a silicone spatula set at Target for 12 bucks and after 4 weeks of using it, all those scratches stayed gone. Has anyone else found that one swap made their cookware last way longer?

Same here, silicone spatulas keep my pans scratch-free too.

Gotta throw a curveball here - silicone spatulas are great but watch out for the cheap ones with plastic handles that can melt if you leave them resting on the edge of a hot pan. Ive seen it happen where the handle warps and the silicone head starts to separate from the core, leaving little black bits in your food. Spent good money on a solid one-piece silicone spatula after that happened and its lasted years without any issues. Also a quick tip - dont let the silicone head touch the sides of a screaming hot cast iron or itll leave a weird burnt rubber smell that takes forever to air out.

@uma_nguyen24 I actually read an article about how the two-piece silicone spatulas can trap food and bacteria in the gap where the handle meets the head. That plus the melting issue you mentioned is why I only buy the solid ones now. Gotta be careful with heat too like you said.
