Stood in the spice aisle for 10 minutes trying to decide between whole cumin and ground cumin

I grabbed whole because I read somewhere it stays fresh longer. Now I'm crushing it with a hammer wrapped in a Ziploc bag and there are cumin chunks in my chili. Should I just give up and buy pre-ground next time?

A hammer wrapped in a Ziploc bag is 100% the most relatable thing I've read all week, I can't believe you actually did that. You're basically a caveman making chili and I kind of respect it.

Heard my friend once used a wine bottle to flatten ground beef, so I guess we're all just figuring it out as we go.
