Serious question, my aunt in Milwaukee said my chili tasted like spaghetti sauce and now I can't stop thinking about it
So last weekend I drove up to Milwaukee to drop off some leftover chili I made in my big 8 quart pot, and my aunt tasted it cold right out of the container and just goes "this tastes like spaghetti sauce." At first I laughed it off, but later I started going through my recipe and realized I dump in a whole 28 ounce can of crushed tomatoes plus a big squeeze of ketchup, which is pretty much what I put in my pasta sauce. Now I'm wondering if I've been making the same thing twice for who knows how long and just calling it different names. Do any of you have a chili recipe that actually tastes like chili and not marinara, or is the tomato thing normal and I'm overthinking it?
