My oven rack was wobbling until I tried a folded piece of foil under one corner

I live in an old apartment in Buffalo and my oven rack has been uneven for maybe a year now, making cookies spread all lopsided. I finally got fed up last week and shoved a folded piece of aluminum foil under the low corner. It leveled things out perfectly. Has anyone else used a cheap fix like that for a busted appliance, or is there a better way to keep the rack stable?

@tarajenkins I see what you're saying about the foil, but I think it depends on where you put it. In my oven the heating element is on the bottom, so the foil is tucked under the rack near the side wall where it doesn't get direct heat. I've used this fix for months and never had any smoke or burning. The foil does crinkle a bit over time, but I just replace it every few weeks. It's a cheap fix for an old rental where I don't want to mess with the actual oven parts. I'd say just keep the foil away from the element and check it once in a while, then you should be fine.

Doesn't the foil get super hot and start to burn or smoke after a while? I tried similar with a toaster oven once and the foil crinkled and sparked a little. I'd be careful using it near the heating element.
