Got burned by a $9 garlic press from the discount bin
Picked up a cheap garlic press at the grocery store last month. Thought I was being smart saving money. Broke on the third clove. Handle snapped right off. Wasted $9 plus the garlic. Now I just use the flat side of my chef's knife. Anyone got a garlic press that actually lasts?

Three garlic presses and three trips to the hardware store glue aisle later (I tried to fix each one). The cheap ones always snap at the hinge or the handle splits, usually right when you're smashing a big clove. My last straw was a red plastic one that left little plastic shards in my pasta sauce. Now I just use the flat of my knife too, or sometimes a mortar and pestle if I'm feeling fancy. Works better and costs nothing.
